Two murals on the 19th floor of the ING Tower in Warsaw.
opening: 16.12.2019
The project is inspired by the history of the place: exactly where the ING tower stands now, there was the “Supersam” shopping pavilion – an important work of the modernist architecture in Poland. The “Frykas” bar inside the pavillion was decorated by Hanna and Gabriel Rechowicz in 1962. The memory of their work is a reference for murals in ING offices.

Procedures for the Head. Polish Art Today is a sequel of the exhibition As You Can See presented at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (2014). This exhibition was the first such extensive presentation of contemporary Polish art in more than a decade. Featuring more than 80 artists representing different generations, media and art centers, focus was attributed to the most important work, approaches and themes employed by artists. Sebastian Cichocki and Łukasz Ronduda, the exhibition’s curators, intentionally chose the conservative exhibition format of the art salon in an attempt to shift attention from curatorial experimentation to the works of art themselves. However, it was a rather unusual salon – critical, emancipatory, psychedelic, often brutal, perverse, self – confident and ambiguous.

“To not lose sight of the sun” – in this short title is the grand function of a large-scale sculpture by Mikołaj Moskal, SUNRISE/SUNSET, to be sited in the near future in a public place in Warsaw. The proposed design is an abstract geometric form composed of basic shapes: a square, a circle and two rectangles. The most important and natural element of the sculpture is the sun’s rays, which during sunrise and sunset pass through the carved out spaces. The Sunrise exhibition takes the sculpture and its subject matter as a reference point – extremely spacious, inspiring, lyrical – containing the beginning, birth and the zero state. In this capacious metaphor we may distinguish three subjects: rhythm, physical properties (colour, temperature, light, etc.) and the experience of time, around which the exhibition narrative is based.
The exhibition consists of two parts and will take place simultaneously at the Starter Gallery (Andersa 13) and in the new Mamastudio project (Autor Rooms, Lwowska 17/7)

To draw – is the project which represents the main directions of the contemporary art in Poland and Russia through the medium of drawing. There are two sections – Polish, which belongs to the neo-surrealistic, “insider” tendency, and Russian, which is connected with activism and the new engaged wave. The project is based on the contrast between these two vectors. And time, when the artists work, can be considered an integrative element.
